Transfers are this week, I am staying in Lindsay, but my companion Elder Wheadon is going to oOakville, and my new companion is Elder Jung, he is Korean, serving as a Korean missionary. He is pretty cool from what I hear, I hope he likes ping pong though. The amazing news this week is we were able to find 2 new investigators. Not only that, we also comitted them to be baptised on march 20! It was really great, one of them is Krystal, and the other is her friend Megan. Krystal is 26,and Megan her friend is 19. I am pretty excited, we are probably going to turn them over to the ysa elders, but we will be able to teach them because they live far away from Oshawa. That's crazy that Elder Vance is already coming home. The work has been really good, and we are hoping to contact a referral that just moved up here from Whitby tonight. There is a cd from Jericho road called day of rest, I would like that cd if you could get it for me. and also if you could find the Hims by voicemale, I have hims 2. but that is all I can think of. I don't know of a time yet that we will call you at, president Eyre is pondering about the skype, and so i'll have Linda give you a call this week when we find everything out. I hope you guys our doing well, it turns out there's a table tennis table in pretty much all the areas all over the mission. Also if you can find the music cd the Garden, at the bookstore, I would really appreciate that. I don't have too much that happened this week, it's been a struggle for finding people to teach, but we are going to work harder than ever to find those that are prepared. I've been working with the members more this past week, especially less actives,

hello mother & father.
I'm glad to hear that you week was pretty good.I am glad to hear that that you are still doing the missionary work, it must remind you of you times in France, while you were serving the lord as a full-time missionary. My companion thinks it weird that I don't miss home or want to go home, but I am really loving being out on a mission at this time. The weather is getting a bit colder now, we've hit a wopping -6. I know its a lot colder in Calgary at the moment. The Christmas season went a bit awry on us. We had our investigator Emma come out to the special nativity thing that our ward does each year, but when she showed up we found out very quickly through her manerisms and language that she was completely wasted. It was the first of 2 nights that the program was going on, and we stayed outside with her, to make it so that she didn't disturb the peace of the program, and chapel. We were doing a great job, she was opening up to us, telling us her concerns and everything, but then, she had to go to the washroom, and thats where it turned upside down. She ended up being sick and some random lady called the paramedics. When the paramedics arrived, it was just at the time that everybody wanted to go to the refreshment room, accross the church, and our elders quorum president made us leave for crowd control, but we were the only ones who knew Emma, so that made a bad situation worse, and she ended up dropping us, thinking we had called the cops. A life saver was that a 16 year old girl from the ward was actually talking to our investigator in the bathroom for about 20 minutes, and we owe her big time. So we are going to make cookies for her with a thankyou note on it. Emma had her friend call us, and we were able to explain to her friend that we did not call the cops, but that it was some random non menber lady. We are still hoping and praying for the best, but it was definitely a trial. After the paramedics left to bring her home, I went into the washroom, and I offered up a mighty prayer to God, for Emma, and I cried, and continued in prayer, asking if what happened was what was supposed to happen, and for comfort, and for Emma. tThen I read in the new testament for a bit, and it talked about loving the child of God, and it was very comforting. I'm gld to hear that your week went better. have another great week.
If you can send my table tennis raquet to me that would be great, i found out that I will actually have a use for it. I did send off the package, and I did receive the package you sent me. Have fun doing the fondant without me. have a great week.

We can go on the byu bookstore sight, they even give us flyers for it, in case we want anything. If you get me a CD, there is one called "The Garden" it's a musical about the Garden of Eden, and the music is really good. I'm the senior companion in this companionship, a few of the things that we have found in common, is we work out together each night, & we both like card and board games. lol. I will send the package today, I didn't get your other emails until today, so I didn't know that Br. Mullen was coming that early. You don't have to reimburce me for everything, but Sears has some really good deals on boots, and zellers had some good deals on long sleeve shirts, so im going to check them out. You will be getting over 300 pictures in the package, and if you remember, there will be some things in there for elder Jerowskies mom, not a lot though. You will be happy to know my eyes don't really buldge that bad anymore, most people can't even tell, so thats good. This week has been really exciting though. Rick, our investigator who was waiting for the marriage certificate, got it on Friday. as soon as his divorce is finalized he will get married and baptized. Most likely in December. Also we met with Stefan on Tuesday, and the lesson went really well. We had brother Jewer come along, it was right just then to commit him for baptism, but I have faith that he will be baptized, because he is really trying to be open, and he was prepared by the Lord to hear this message. He also has a friend that was interested as well about the Mormon church, so we are really hoping to be able to teach them both. Emma our investigator with a baptism date, has lost some of her desire to read and pray, so we are going to try to meet with her 2 times a week to see if we can regain that desire. Also I was able to commit Doug to come to church every week from now on, if he does that, he will be able to be baptized. This week has been a wonderful week of blessings from the Lord, and I will continue to do my all to be worthy of these amazing miracles that he has and will give us.

I am doing well out here, my new companion is Elder Kinikini, he is half Tongan, and half Samoan, but he's a cool guy. He is actually from Sandy Utah though, but doesn't know the Mendenhalls. Our special night time companion thing is going to be a hardcore workout to get ripped, for me anyways, he's just trying to cut the fat, but were having a great time doing the Lords work. Please don't send too too much candy, I had a lot after holloween, and that extra box you sent me was a bit too much. Thankyou for sending that stuff though, where did you get the over shoes from? The weather out here has been getting slightly colder, we"re down to about 5 degrees average per day. No snow yet, but it is raining right now. Thats good that Kurt and Troy are moving forward in their preparations. I am excited to hear where Kurt is going. I don't know if I really need anything else, I think I'm good. I don't need anymore cake or cookie or brownie mix's, I sitll haven't found the time to make the ones I have yet. I'm not sure if I'll ever find the time, but I might give them to members to make for me or something. Hey mom
It was great to hear of your stories. I am going to be staying in
Cobourg, and my new companion is Elder Kinikini, elder Jerowsky is heading to Oakville south. I'm glad to hear Kurt is almost done his papers, it'll be pretty funny if he gets sent out here, then I could train him lol. Yesterday we met with, for the first time, a potential investigator who elder jerowsky had known for 7 months. she hadn't been taught before because she was always drunk, but she's looking to change her life around. She is 45, and single, we brought our ward mission leader with us, and that appointment comitted her for baptism on Dec 19. She accepted! It was a really good lesson. She is divorced, her husband and her son live in Alberta, but her daughter is going to school out here, and visits her every other week. Yesterday was an awesome day. We saw the blessings and miracles that the Lord had in store for us. We are looking at around 3 baptisms for Dec. The work is really going great in Cobourg, and I hope that we can continue in this great work. I love you a lot, I did receive the package, and I will be sending my package out before Wednesday. Sorry but this email will be short. We had to pick up a new car, a chevy malibu, from Toronto. Where is Kurt Sonata going? I'm really sorry to hear about Ross's mom, that is probably going to be hard on him. I still haven't sent out my package yet, but I have everything I need to send it off, expect in a week or so. Everything is going great out here, Doug one of our baptism dates, will have to be rescheduled, he keeps leaving town every Sunday, and he hasn't been out once yet, but he will be baptised. Rick, our other baptism date, hasn't gotten his marriage certificate yet, please pray that the government will hurry up just a bit. I think he was able to get all the divorce stuff completed, just waiting on the government. I love you guys a lot, transfers are this next week, so I'll fill you in. We had my first sick day on Saturday, we were too sick to go out, and got permission to stay in. I'm all better now.

Alright I'll give in, we have an extremely nice member here, who does this for all the missionaries, she'll even call you up and talk to you sometime, we don't have her address, but i will get her to call you sometime early this week. Her name is Linda. I heard about trunk or treating on Saturday, sounds like you had fun. The work out here is wonderful, I was talking to people on the streets, and I started talking to this one guy and his friend, one of them was a person who helps out in group homes, the other was less accountable. I was talking to the less accountable one, and we kind of taught, but we only had like 5 minutes, but the other guy Stephan, gave us his number and said that he and one of his friends had been wanting to go and check out the Mormon church, and we were extremely blessed to find him, we are trying to set up an appointment with him, but we have to call him in the middle of the afternoon, and we forget sometimes. We will meet with him soon. I'm glad that Scooter's doing well. i love you all

Hi Everyone,
Happy Birthday Mom, I found something to send you, I believe you really like this stuff, and I believe you can't get it from out there, so I am going to send it to you. Just so you know, I will be buying some new shoes probably today, my black really cheap ones are starting to go on me, they will still have use, but not for too much longer. That would be great if you send me the Trench coat, that's all I really need. I have some really nice gloves, so I don't need gloves either, but the shoe coverings would be nice as well. We have a baptism date for November 21st, for a guy whose name is Doug, he lives 20 minutes away, in Colbourne. He's and older fellow, and he loves to watch the christian channel with the people who go all over the world just to "proclaim the gospel". We told him that they don't hold the priesthood authority of God. His response was "oh I didn't know that".Rick the one who broke his hip, he will be released from the Hospital on the 28th, and hopefully real soon he will get his divorce certificate so he can get re-married. If it's Gods will we will baptise him on the 14 of November. I love you a lot, have a great week.

My companion and I have really been talking to each other this transfer, and it has really made our companionship grow. An amazing thing happened this week, we tracted a members appartment building, and on the bottom floor, we found Nick. He his 19 years old and lives with his girlfriend. He pretty well believes in absolutely everything that we believe in, and he did most of the talking, it was really awesome, the only sad thing is that he bombed our appointment on Sunday. The members down here are really great, and elder jerowsky and I are being fed quite a bit. I still haven't gained any weight though. I am starting to feel a bit colder now, and my throat isn't quite as big as it was when I left. Also my eyes are doing really well. i love you all alot, thank you for your support, remember this advice the best way to strengthen your relationship with someone, is to simply sit down and talk with them frequently. it has really worked this transfer like you wouldn't believe.

I loved general conference, my favourite talk was Pres. Uchtdorfs talk on pride, and being proud. i loved it. The work out in Cobourg is flourishing, the Lord is really blessing us, and I am priveleged to be a part of the work, and the miracles it brings. I hope you enjoyed thanksgiving, im sorry that i only was able to email you today, but today was are p-day, Ibecause we had Zone Conference yesterday.I am enjoying my new companion, we have had some great discussions that have really helped our bond grow. I know that this will be a great transfer, and that the Lord will bless us with miracles and blessings this transfer. I have some great pictures of the lake, and of the beautiful colours, I need 160 more pictures before I send it home to you guys. It shouldn't be too much longer. I want to send it home in a big package, but I don't know what to get you guys yet.I'm sure I will think of something. Cobourg is a really nice place, I have eaten at a members house pretty well since I arrived in cobourg, and yesterday we finally didn't have a dinner appointment, but we have enough turkey leftovers to last us a week! My story for you guys today has to do with a guy named Rick. He is waiting for the divorce papers to be sent out, so that he and his ex wife can sign it, they said it would take 6 weeks, then he could get re-married and be baptised. He has an astonishing testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately the week before I came in he tore all the ligaments in his hip, and to top it off this past Sunday he completely broke his hip. Satan is really working hard to stop him from being baptized into the Lords church. It will take him 6 months to recover before he can be baptized. but he is staying faithful. I love you guys a lot. Some of the things I am thankful forare; my new companion Elder Jerowsky, the faithfulness of the investigators out here, and the Lord for letting me be a part of this wonderful work.

Hi Mom,
Yes i did get to watch conference! I thought that that was a dumb question of you to ask!LOL The exciting news is that I was able to get Andrew and his nine year old son to church during the Sunday morning session. It was really great, his nine year old son kind of lost focus quite early, so I turned it into a discussion with him, to help him understand what they were talking about. Also we have a baptismal date set for Bowadi Affuo, my goals were accomplished before transfers! His goal is to strive towards Oct 31st, he just needs to come to church. Sadly I am being transferred to Cobourg, which is only like 45 minutes south of where I live right now in Peterborough.Guesswhat................................................................ I am going to be partnered with a Calgarian. Elder Jerowsky is going to be my companion. I didn't see that one coming. It's going to be awesome. I'll miss the Fukishima's though, they are going to feed me tomorrow instead of on Wednesday. They are an awesome family. I hope you guys are doing well. The average temperature here is 14 degrees with sunshine all day long, it's a good temperature.

I am going to be partnered with a Calgarian. Elder Jerowsky is going to be my companion. I didn't see that one coming. It's going to be awesome. I'll miss the Fukishima's though, they are going to feed me tomorrow instead of on Wednesday. They are an awesome family. I hope you guys are doing well. This week didn't go as planned, but this next week I am going to get Andrew and his family to general conference no matter what, and we will set a sure date for Bowadi's baptism before I leave this area. I will study fast and pray to get this to happen. Transfers will be in a week from wednesday, and I feel like this is my last opportunity to do all I can in Peterborough and Bancroft, so I will strive to do all I can.

September 20th
Hello
This past week has been so exciting, we are starting to see the fruits of our labours. This past week we found 6 new investigators, and 4 of them just yesterday. The members up in Bancroft, and the Thomas S. Monson camp director, are the people doing the work. Apparently there's only more to come, because we couldn't visit with all the people the members wanted us to. It is awesome. Not only that but our investigator Bowadi Affuo is praying for the baptsimal date October 17. Even though I don't think I will be here for that, it is very exciting, and my joy is full. I bought a new 8 gigabite MP3 player that was the same price as the 4 gigabite Coby. Mine broke down. I sent dad a letter, and he should receive that on his birthday or before hand. I'm keeping in touch with Elder Nilson, and I found out that he has 2 baptismal dates lined up. Great for him, since he just arrived in the field. I'm hoping for the one baptismal date before I leave Peterborough. I have been collecting the full series of the teachings of the presidents of the church. President Kimballs is considerably small, and that was disappointing, because if you remember I loved quoting from him. This next transfer I feel I will be moving out though. I am enjoying my new companion, he is really awesome, he prefers to listen to classical music on his mission, so we alternate. We really do get along quite well. My comapnion and I are going to go and play frisbee golf today, since it`s free, and since we both have frisbees. It`s going to be quite fun. The work is moving along, and here's a story about one of the investigators we found. Her name is Pearleen Plumptin, and she loves to do family history. We brought a member along with us, but she has 7 cats in her house. I think I might have a slight allergy to cats, because my nose was really bugging me during that appointment. I think you would have died if you went into that house dad, and my nose still has not recovered.

Hi mom
I can't believe Logan is already back!!!!!!, I can remember when he left like it was yesterday. General Conference is exciting, we are inviting people left right and center to come and listen to our prophet speak. A lot of less-actives as well. I'm kind of tired of nephews, tell Leiah I think I want a niece. My family will have tripled by the time I get back from my mission! I expect by that time Meagan will have 2, Leaih might have a 4th on the way, and Mark will probably have one by then too! Thats really crazy. This week things picked up, but do you remember me talking about that catholic guy. Elder Sanders and I just absolutely love talking with him, he's so smart. He actually asked us if we could share how we came to know that the Book of Mormon was true, it was like and awesome testimony meeting, this was yesterday, and it really brought the spirit. He also played the fiddle for us, and he is really amazing at it. I love listening to the fiddle. every time we go there and have a discussion it just feels good, learning about what they actually believe and sharing what we believe. I also learn so much from talking with him. After my mission I want to come back to Peterborough just because he's my friend now, and also just to talk about everything, talk about his pretty big book collection. He really is a great guy. I haven't gained OR LOST any weight since I've been on my mission, I'm not starving, and have eaten plenty, if this will make you feel better this past 2 weeks are really good for being fed. We even got invited to the Auburn bible chapel for some crazy lunch thing they do once a year. This happened when we tracted into this guy who said to come. The food was really good, and the people came up and talked with us, it was a good experience. Well i guess I'll ell you this story. We went to petro canada to fill up with gas, when a couple of university girls, wearing the blue Shinorama shirt asked us if we wanted a car wash, I had no idea what this was for, so I asked them,and they said if we donated to their cause, which is Cystic Fibrosis research, we got a car wash. So we got the car wash and donated after, originally we were just going to give them all our change, but I thought one of the girls was cute, so I gave them the only money in my wallet which was only a 10 dollar bill, also as a missionary I have learned a bit more about charity, and this was a better cause for that money then buying some toy or something for me. But that was pretty cool, they were all modestly dressed, which I really appreciated. Except for one of the girls boyfriend, he was in some black briefs, oiled down his chest, and went out on the side walk with their advertiesment sign. It was pretty funny. We noticed after that, that all over town there were university students collecting money, something like 500 students. It was very neat, apparently I think they do this once a year. While they were washng our car, we explained who we were and what we're doing.

Hi mom
Thanks for the picture of the house being built.The house looks pretty shabby right at the moment, but I think with a bit of work it will come along nicely. It looks like it was a beautiful day in Calgary as well. I will try to be shopping at a fudge store in town to see if they do sell any caramel spread,if I find some I will treat my companion to a beautiful taste, if not I already treated him to some groc, and a hearty big meal of rice peas and groundbeef with montreal steakspice. My companion Elder Sanders is from Auburn California, its a small town about 1 hour east of Sacramento. He has 5 acres of land, and is spelling all his words the canadian way, like Colour Saviour etc... We went up to Bancroft this weekend and it turns out they got around 4 friends to come to church. They are really showing their appreciation for missionaries by making more work happen up there than down here. Bancroft is absolutely beautiful though, I love it up there, I forgot to take pictures though, so I will the next time I get up there. This week we did a ton of traveling to go and see the inactives that live on the outskirts of our area, we probably spent 15 hours in the car, Bancroft itself being arounf 4 hours. So that took a lot out of both of us. I might need a stake directory, because I have finally gotten to writing the Surdu's back, when I noticed there is no return address on their envelope, if you could send me their address and postal code I would be greatly appreciative. I love you a lot

I have been taking lots of pictures, but I haven't filled up the card yet, I am going to take more pictures with the members and try to fill it up as soon as possible. My new companion is Elder Sanders, he is shorter than me, weighs about 20 pounds more, but not overweight in any way. He's been out for 20 months and I am really enjoying working with him. He's an awesome missionary.Thanks for elder Nilsons email address. Not too much happened this week. I am going to start teaching the members the discussions to try and help them become more excited in missionary work. I got the idea from a talk in this months ensign. I hope everything goes well. Staying in Peterborough
An awesome thing happened this week. We visited an investigator that was dropped by us, and we brought a member along. We taught 3rd nephi 18: 1-25, and afterwards commited him to come back to church, I really thought he was going to get up and give me a hug, (and say something like, man I will come back to church, I need it in my life, something like that) but instead he just gave me a really firm handshake. It was awesome, it's the first time he's really understood the spirit and what we teach. This week was transfer week, my companion Elder Williamson is heading back into Oshawa, and my new comapnion in peterborough will be Elder Sanders. Peterborugh isn't an area where I get fed a lot. Amazingly enough I am keeping up my weight, and I am working out my upper body, that's the good part about Peterborough, they have some good weights. This week seemed to go really slow, probably because transfers were this week. We taught a young man,18, who I had given a book of mormon to. It turns out he has actually been reading it. He has had a really tough life, and he lives in a group home, but his mom was a church girl and he wanted to get back into religion. We taught him about the book of mormon and about baptism, but we didn't commit him to baptism. I want you to tell all the people leaving on missions real soon to commit investigators to baptism, don't be afraid, just commit to baptism. We have a talk out here called challenging and testifying missionary, it comes from a general conference a long time ago. (I believe.) My suggestion is if you can get a hold of it before your mission, and study it thoroughly, even practice it, you will see a lot more success on your mission. My advice to prospective missionaries is to become challenging and testifying missionaries, it is hard, but it will help you give your all i know that if i do apply it I will see miracles happen.

"hellooooo" mom
This past week has been pretty stressful, and its going to continue next week, as we have another leadership training. My eyes bulge more when I'm stressed I find. We found an awesome new investigator this week, that makes 7 over 4 weeks, all from tracting. Her name is Erika, she's YSA age, but we're not sure if she's married. She is a nurse, and for the next week she will still be doing a night shift. She had taken a bit of a religion study, so she can aquaint herself with the religions of patients. She has questions about death, and doesn't believe that a child should go to hell if it's not baptized. It was awesome! We taught her a mixed lesson of the Restoration and Plan of Salvation, but since I was in Oshawa the Lindsey elders came over to teach her. I had told them to teach the plan of salvation, and they taught the restoration, which made it even more stressful for me. I really enjoyed the stuff you sent down,especially those sugar cookies, they were awesome. In Bancroft, brother Cook,he's French. He's a really neat character. He had us over for the night. That's because he lives too far away, and he had to drive us down. He's cool, he gave us a small can of maple syrup, so today I made myself some real good canadian french toast, my companion wouldn't even try it. I love you a lot

Kent's family doesn't live in my area, they live in my district. I'm in Peterborough, and they live in Lindsey. So if you send it to them I will not be able to go pick it up until I am transferred to Lindsey. Next transfers are august 25th. the problem I am facing with my companion right now is his hope and faith, (not the tv show). He thinks that investigators never get baptised on their baptismal date, but with Gods help anything is possible. It's usually known as a miracle! You just have to have the right attitude toward everything that you do, then you will see the miracles and promised blessings that you were told would come. I went up to Bancroft yesterday. I was on splits with a Brother Rider. He served his mission in England, and he played a big part in bringing the Hinton Family into the church. Ask them if they remember brother Rider. With the humidity factor it has been up around 40 degrees down here, so it actually wasn't hot in calgary! I am tanning up nicely though. Just send the meds to me. I am doing fine, and I'm keeping the right attitude. I might use my credit card to buy something. (just as one of those every once in a while uses) it won't be expensive, just like 20 dollars or something. This week I should be repaid for the airconditioner, and I will put the money back in the account. We have an appointment with a former potential investigator named Candace, and I'm excited to teach her. She sounded pretty excited over the phone.I'm glad to hear you had a good time at the air show. You're getting burnt while I'm getting tanned, lol. I think Shaun will be a great mission leader, I hope all the young families are doing well. Tell them I miss them, and that they were excellent examples to me. I'm also extremely glad to hear things have picked up for work, I will continue to pray for you. I'm glad to hear that the work is still moving along up there. I'm going to keep the right attitude as we go to teach everyone and bring them unto Christ. If we can get at least half our potential investigators to commit to baptism (around 10 is half) I will probably explode with joy. Have an exciting joyful week.
